From working with a team of dedicated professionals to using state-of-the-art facilities, you'll have great resources to do something incredible-for yourself, and for others.What will you be doing in this role?The Clinical Associate Ph.D. (Variant Scientist) for Cedars-Sinai Health System is a member of a Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Division under the direction of the Division Director. Working independently with minimal supervision, the assigned activities include analysis, curation, annotation of data from genomic testing including next generation sequencing. The Variant Scientist will also support the division's quality management program and contribute to meeting key performance indices. The Variant Scientist collaborates with the Division's faculty and operations team to support the short and long term goals and objectives of the Division. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the developmental issues of the patient population(s) served.Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies needs and establishes goals for the division which are consistent with organizational and departmental goals.
  • Supervises the delivery of division services and a comprehensive quality assurance program to ensure accurate and valid outcomes.
  • Develops business and/or operations plans; evaluates and introduces new procedures and instruments; demonstrates willingness to test and use new concepts.
  • Promotes continuous quality improvement of systems and processes.
  • Oversees division fiscal affairs, including expense reduction, utilization management and budget control.
  • Participates in the supervision of division employees; hiring, training, competency and performance evaluation, discipline and termination of employment.
  • Provides leadership, coaching and opportunities for professional development to facilitate work processes, collaboration and quality outcomes.
  • Serves as a resource person to relate correlations and interpretations of laboratory data to physicians.
  • Manages, directs and participates in special projects or assignments.Education Requirements:
    • Doctoral degree in a Cancer Genetics, Human Genetics, Biological Sciences, or related field.License/Certification Requirements:
      • A valid clinical license in a related science from the California State Department of Health.
      • Board Certified.Experience:
        • Five years experience in the field.
        • Broad experience using computational methods, databases, software tools.
        • Minimum two years experience in analyzing, curating, annotating variants and writing clinical-grade reports.
